Full Body Tune Up: Clear and touchably soft skin, hair, and lips

So you’re going on a trip or you have a big event coming up and you want to look your best. When it comes to the winter months, your skin and hair can start to look dull and dry, lips get cracked, and acne can pop up on your face and body. If you are anything like me, you end up looking in the mirror a few days before you have to be somewhere and think to yourself “I hope I look better by then”. So here is what I do:

For soft and clear skin: Homemade face and body scrub- This is a great DIY scrub that you can make using stuff you might already have in the kitchen.

You will need:

·         A bowl you can take in the shower

  • 1/3 cup oatmeal
  • 1/8 cup lemon juice
  •  1 tbs honey
  •  1 tsp salt
  •  1 tsp sugar

Basically all you have to do is mix it in the bowl and you’re good to go. I usually just eyeball the measurements.  This will make more than what is shown, I took the pictures after I used it. When applying, leave it on your face and body for a few minutes, it will sting if you have any acne but the salt and lemon juice help heal them. The oatmeal, sugar and salt exfoliate and the honey helps restore moisture.

After using the scrub, wash your face and body like you would normally. After you are finished with your shower, apply a spot treatment to any acne. I like Burt’s Bees Acne solutions spot treatment in combination with my Naked soap (I buy this at a local piercing shop) for clear skin.
Next moisturize your body and face. I like the Cetaphil moistuising lotion because it’s fragrance free and really gentle.

Don’t forget your hands and feet!- For soft hands and feet I love Burt’s bees peppermint foot lotion and Burt’s Bees shea butter hand repair cream.

…or your eyes: I love this Skiin Eye Cream that came in my January ipsy bag.

For Kissaby soft lips:And for non-cakey lipstick, When you brush your teeth use your toothbrush to exfoliate your lips, this will get rid of any dry skin and prevent cakey lipstick. Then use a good lip balm or some Vaseline to keep your lips moisturised.

TIP: For whiter teeth I use a combination of Crest 3D white tooth paste and Listerine Whitening Multi-action whitening rinse. I found that using these two together for a few days will tune up your smile. [pic.]

For soft hair: Wash your hair using your favorite shampoo, I rotate between different tea tree oils ones. Towel dry it a little then let air dry. While hair is still damp spray or work in a-little leave-in conditioner. I used Healthy Sexy Hair’s Soy Tri- wheat leave-in conditioner, but I also like Garnier Fructis Sleek and shine Intensely smooth Leave-in conditioning cream.  To work it in even more and prevent tangles, use a wide tooth comb to brush through your hair!

Ahhhhh…I always feel really great after pampering myself. The last thing to do is relax and not stress too much about whatever is coming up. Happy pampering!

xoxo
